びっくりされただろうなあと思います。

I imagine people must have been shocked by the accident because that tree is such an iconic and well-known part of the street—it’s hard to believe it fell!

この事故で

男性が負傷したと聞いて驚きましたが

病院に運ばれ

治療を受けていることを知りほっとしました。

I was really sad to hear about the man getting injured in this terrible accident, but I’m glad to know he was taken to the hospital and is receiving care.

男性は大怪我され、本当に悲しい事故ですが、

Although the man was severely injured in this very sad accident,

いつも信じられないほど混雑しているあの道で

誰も亡くならなくて本当によかったです。

it’s amazing that no one was killed, especially considering how crowded that area always is. It could have been much worse.

When I saw the news, I immediately looked back at pictures of that cherry tree. It holds many memories for me too.
